Le Mans Classic 2012

The big news is that the dates for Le Mans Classic have now been confirmed as the weekend of July 6th, 7th & 8th.

We have contacted all ‘our’ hotels, to say: “Same again, please”; and then all of last year’s group to offer the chance to return to the hotel they had last time, and many have already replied (and most have said “Yes”). But we are certain that not all will, so we will have space for newcomers (though space in some hotels is very tight).

At the moment we are only quoting provisional prices – the reason is very simple - we cannot give firm prices until we know how much we will be charged by the different hotels, the event organisers, and the ferry companies; and even when we know that we still need to know what the exchange rate between the £ and the € will be next year!

But we have had this problem for each of the previous events, and have always managed to make accurate enough guesses – so this is what we have done now to say we will be accepting bookings based upon packages for each hotel being not more than the prices shown below, and if they do members will be able to cancel and receive a full refund of all monies paid. We expect to have firm prices towards the end of this year.

CAMPING – pitch at one of the ACO sites within the circuit - £420.00 for one car and two persons.  This includes the same tickets, goodies and ferry travel as our hotel packages – REGISTER NOW.  We have been advised by ACO that we will have forty pitches in either Karting Nord or Maison Blanche sites (both very convenient) – we are awaiting firm information from them.  NB this price is for MSCC members only, but we will accept bookings from non-members subject to an extra charge of £25.00 per car

TICKETS ONLY.  MSCC members can purchase tickets from us at a price of £95.00 for car and driver, plus £80.00 for each passenger (16 years of age and over).  This gives a full weekend ticket, unreserved grandstand seat, paddock pass, various goodies and parking for Morgan within the Bugatti Circuit.   We are happy to provide tickets for NON-MEMBERS, but will charge an extra £25.00 per car for this.  If they are with an acceptable classic car (check with us) they may park inside the circuit.  However if we have reached the maximum of 300 cars allowed by the organisers they will be required to park outside, and we will provide the necessary pass without charge.

Circuit Drives (normally two or three laps) are available at £132 per car.

These prices are all for TWO people travelling in one car, and (hotel deals) sharing one room (they are not per person – when comparing prices remember that most operators quote per person). They all include event tickets for the full weekend, unreserved grandstand seats, paddock passes and parking for Morgans inside the Bugatti Circuit; plus whatever goodies we choose (and can afford) and ferry travel based upon a five day Dover Calais ticket. Ferry travel for different routes and/or durations will be charged whatever extra we have to pay. We will not (as certain operators seem to do) charge almost as much as it will cost you to book the alternative journey, and then make no allowance for the ‘basic’ ferry ticket not being used!

SINGLE ROOMS: As with all French hotels the rates for solo travellers are much less attractive, as the only saving would be one set of event tickets and one set of meals (even solo travellers gain nothing on the ferries, as almost all prices are for car and at least two passengers). We will give more accurate prices on request.

For members wishing to continue on to the big MSCCH event at Assen we have reserved Hotel Hermitage in Montreuil sur Mer for the nights of Monday & Tuesday 9 & 10 July. This hotel is now full, though we are making a list of those for whom we will make, or recommend, alternative accommodation.

Tuesday can be spent on personal sightseeing – if you have not walked around Le Touquet, fifteen minutes away, we would strongly recommend that, though for a very good Morgan driving experience head north along the coast to drive the ‘Route des Deux Caps’ which hugs the coast between Boulogne and Calais and allows superb views from the top of both Cap Gris Nez and Cap Blanc Nez. On Tuesday evening we plan a meal using one of our favourite chefs – M. Pascal Jabely, who prepared lunch at Le Touquet for the 344 members who visited Le Touquet after Mog 2000. The price for the two nights accommodation, and the Tuesday evening meal is £285.00 per couple sharing one room. An optional buffet meal is available for Monday evening at £17.50 per person

As a member of the Association of Bonded Travel Organisers Trust Limited (ABTOT),The Morgan Sports Car Club Limited has provided a bond to meet the requirements of the Package Travel, Package Holidays and Package Tours Regulations 1992. (ABTOT Member 5119)
In the event of insolvency, protection is provided for non-flight packages commencing in and returning to the UK and other non-flight packages excluding prearranged travel to and from your destination. Please note that packages booked outside the UK are only protected when purchased directly with The Morgan Sports Car Club.
In the above circumstances, if you have not yet travelled you may claim a refund, or if you have already travelled, you may claim repatriation to the starting point of your non-flight package.
